Cordaitean plants with mesarch xylem maturation of stem and leaf; primary xylem consisting of downward extensions of leaf traces; cauline bundles wanting. Leaves helically arranged with traces diverging from margin of pith as one or more bundles. Leaves strapshaped and assignable to Cordaites when found isolated. Cons axillary, compound, either single or paired; microsporangiate cones conforming to Gothania when isolated, at maturity containing monosaccate prepollen in the pollen sacs.

Vegetative shoots with helically arranged leaves. Branching patterns not known. Leaves linear to narrow oblanceolate with optuse apex. Ovuliferous cone compound with bract-dwarf shoot complexes helically arranged around axis. Bract linear with obtuse apex. Dwarf shoots bilaterally symmetrical, longer than wide, with five partially fused ovate scales; one larger median scale, two fertile lateral scales, and two sterile scales at intermediate positions. Ovules attached basally on abaxial surface of the fertile scales. Dwarf shoot base stalklike, partially fused with bract.

Irregularly branched plants with helically arranged leaves, bracts, and sporophylls; smaller leaves simple, larger leaves forked. Leaf cushions absent; bud scales absent; Endarch eustele with dense wood; leaves with two adaxial stomatiferous bands flanking inflated midrib; marginal and surficial trichomes present. Stomata longitudinally oriented, solitary or arranged in longitudinal rows; stomatal complexes with ring of angular papillate subsidiary cells, polar subsidiary cells elongated. Microsporangiate sporophylls with forked tip; prepollen monolete.

Primary axis 3.0 - 4.3 mm wide and greater than 108 mm long bearing helically arranged bracts with axillary ovulate cone at inter branching distances of 2.1-4.9 mm. Bracts lanceolate to oblanceolate and with parallel venation, 12.2-18.9 mm long, 1.4-1.8 mm wide where attached and with greatest with approximately 3/5 of bract length up to 3.8 mm wide. Ovulate cone axis 0.8-1.4 mm wide at attachement widening up to 2.6 mm before producing the first vegetative scale between 2.2-5.1 mm from the departure of the secondary shoot.
