diagnosis: 

Leaves 1.0-4.7 cm long; simple leaves 1.0-2.5 cm; forked leaves 2.2-4.7 cm, angle of fork ranging  from 20º to 120º. Stems with septate pith comprising sclerotic nests and parenchyma cells; axillary elongated resin rodlets with dark contents in secondary phloem and cortex; epidermis with isodiametric polygonal epidermal cells and elongated trichomes. Long marginal trichomes at leaf base, diminishing to short spines near apex, surficial trichomes elongated and prominent on midrib. Pollen cones 2.0-2.3 cm wide, >7 cm long, prepollen with bent monolete, 103-152 µm in greatest dimension. Ovulate zones ca. 2.5 cm wide, >16 cm long with long forked bracts; ovuliferous dwarf shoots 14-20 mm long, 6-8 mm wide. Vegetative scales with mucronate apex and elongated surficial trichomes; ovules oval, ca. 2.5 mm long.
