Lebowskia grandiflora Looy sp. nov.
Vegetative shoots with helically arranged bifacial leaves. Branching patterns not known. Leaves linear to narrow oblanceolate with an obtuse apex and square base. Ovuliferous cone compound with bract-dwarf shoot complexes helically arranged around axis. Bract linear with smooth margin and optuse apex. Dwarf shoots bilaterally symmetrical, longer than wide, with five partially fused scales; one wide concave ovateto obovate median scale, two narrow ovate fertile lateral scales, and two small ovate sterile scales with acute to obtuse apex at intermediate positions. Ovule attachment on the lateral fertile scales basally on the abaxial surface. Dwarf shoot base stalklike, partially fused with bract. Seeds and ovules flattened, rhomboidal. Polliniferous cone not known. Epidermal surface of leaves and dwarf shoots amphistomatic, stomatal complexes scattered, stomatal density higher on abaxial side. Stomatal complexes monocyclic, commonly five to six subsidiary cells with erect papillae. Epdermal cell large, polygonal to rectangular, and rounded papillae.
