Compound polysperms up to 11 cm long and 4 cm wide (main axis 10-13 mm
wide) terminating leafy twigs of the Brachyphyllum or Pagiophyllum type.
Simple lateral polysperms obconical. Seeds winged, on short decurrent stalks. Megaspore
membrane thick, 0.8-2.5 mm long, 0.6-1.7 mm wide. Elongated microstrobili, 6-8
mm wide and 3-4 cm long, occupy apical position on repeatedly dichotomizing
leafy twig. Pollen 50-70 urn in diameter, round, often folded and then
boat-shaped. Quasisaccus with densely spaced minute lumina, gradually disappe
morphogenus
Type species: Timanostrobus muravievii Meyen, 1997
Genus established for polysperms, although other organs are also known. Main axis of compound polysperm terminating a leafy twig
and bearing helically arranged simple lateral polysperms. Bracts have not been observed. Thick axis of lateral polysperm densely covered by numerous monosperms, replaced near apex by sterile scales. Leafy twigs of Brachyphyllum or Pagiophyllum type. Male strobili crown leaf twigs. Pollen with thin quasisaccus embracing inner body both equatorially and distally . Monolete proximal aperture may be present.
