Dicranophyllum hallei Remy & Remy

systematic position:
In the results of our analyses the branch that connects Dicranophyllum hallei + the conifer taxa has a jackknife support of 79% and a decay value of 2, being one of the most strongly supported branches on the tree. Therefore these results indicate that Dicranophyllum is more accurately regarded as a conifer than as a separate order of coniferophytes (i.e., Dicranophyllales) as advocated by some authors (Meyen, 1984). In other words, Dicranophyllum is a basal conifer rather than a sister group to the conifers.
